About David

I feel blessed and am grateful to continue a wonderful and rewarding journey that started in March of 2000: I began my career as a music therapist at Hospice of the Twin Cities in Plymouth, Minnesota, where I continue to coordinate the music therapy department.

My studies have included music history at St. Olaf College (where I studied voice with Donald Hoiness), music therapy with Dr. Charles Furman at the University of Minnesota, and practical nursing at Red Wing Technical College.

And you might be interested in some of the other recordings on which I've appeared. They are:

For the Love of Todd: A Tribute to Todd Rundgren
A collection of lesser known but very cool artists (like Mitch Easter and Don Dixon) or entirely unknown artists (like me) covering works of my musical and sometimes spiritual mentor, Todd Rundgren. I sing an a cappella version of "The Wheel." Produced by Mitch Cooper of Third Lock Records in 1991. Still available through TR Bazaar!

Still There is More…A Tribute to Todd Rundgren, Part II
I'm on this one too, covering the Nazz song "Gonna Cry Today" as if it were Todd's version of "Hello, it's Me". Again produced by Mr. Cooper (1995), but unfortunately no longer in print (though you can still find an entry at TR Bazaar.)

Peace on Earth
A collection of original songs by lesser known artists (again unknown in my case) in some way or another addressing the themes of peace and Christmas. Produced by Toby Thomas of Silver Moon Music for Christmas 2002. A limited edition CDR which is no longer available. My long time friend and musical collaborator James Demgen and I updated a song we wrote some years ago, entitled "Will I Fall".

Other recordings, done individually or with other musicians, remain unreleased.

I have also arranged Albert Hay Malotte's The Lord's Prayer for high voice with classical guitar accompaniment. G. Schirmer (via Hal Leonard) was kind enough to publish it in 1996.

I continue to collaborate occasionally with friends on recording, songwriting and/or concert projects. Some of those artists I think you would enjoy are:

Deborah Liv Johnson, who has been kind enough to have me join her onstage several times over the last decade.

The Rose Ensemble, with whom I sang in 1996-97.

Dare to Breathe, for whom I arranged an a cappella version of the Lennon/McCartney ballad "Good Night" in 1999. I might have to record it one day since they didn't, but I was happy to hear them sing it live.
